Committed To The North Shore
Michael has diligently worked to sustain and preserve the unique beauty, the economic health and our way of life on the North Shore by:
- A 35% income tax credit for solar energy systems and a 20% tax credit for wind-power systems until January 1, 2008.
- Working to preserve the land on the North Shore. Introduced HB 2759 and secured approved State funding of $1,000,000 for the purchase of 1,129 acre Pupukea-Paumalu forest reserve, plus matching federal and municipal government funds.
- Introduced legislation and collaborated with Galbraith Trust, ILWU, Poamoho residents, private developer, and community leaders to save the Poamoho Camp residents from possible eviction notice on June 30, 2004.
- Introduced HR 110 and HCR 161 that was adopted by the legislature requesting the governor declaring Haleiwa Town as the Surfing Capital of the world. Haleiwa Town and surrounding communities identified by its zip code 96712.
