Committed To Our Kupuna
Michael has defended our seniors by keeping healthcare at the forefront each year at the legislative sessions by working towards protecting the health, safety and welfare of our kupuna by:
- Establishing a universal long-term care income tax and tax credit to address the future long-term care needs of Hawaii's people.
- Requiring adult residential care homes to be monitored with annual unannounced official visits.
- Protecting Hawaii's dependent elders by authorizing the Attorney General to seek civil penalties for cases of abuse and neglect, including financial and economic exploitation.
- Enabling grandparents or other relatives to provide care for a child in the absence of a parent.
- Legislating the Hawaii Rx Plus Act to increase access to affordable prescription drugs for those on limited incomes who lack drug coverage.
